2022 GPTI Conference “Gender, Sexuality and Relationship Diversity (GSRD): Beyond the Words”

Lancaster 15th September 2022.

You are invited to join the GPTI community at our first in-person conference since Autumn 2019. We will be exploring this important theme of identity and diversity by talking – and also to get beyond the words, to the lived and embodied experience. What does GSRD mean for:
• our clients
• therapists and supervisors
• members of the gestalt community
• GPTI as a whole

How do we use our responses to create a more inclusive organisation and clinical practice?

We wish to use this one-day conference as a beginning – a launchpad – for planning the GPTI residential conference in autumn 2023 where themes that emerge this year can be developed further and in more depth.

The 2022 conference will consist of a panel of volunteer members who will start the discussion of GSRD as a lived experience, and then open up to the whole community to participate as individuals and in groups.

There will be further workshops to follow on themes related to GSRD and other aspects of diversity – details to be confirmed nearer to the conference. There is still space/time for you to offer a workshop – perhaps something you have been considering for a while; experiential activities; creative activities – please contact our administrator, Katherine Bird ( with your ideas.

The second half of conference will include the AGM, presentations and celebrations, and community meeting.

Marianne Fry Lecture 2022

Engineers’ House, Bristol, Saturday 24th September

Understanding power, its impact and how it manifests, feels more urgent than
ever. In this talk, building on both her clinical and organisational experience,
Dr Marie-Anne Chidiac will put forward an understanding of power as not just
coercive but as a structuring aspect of the field.

In the afternoon, Marie-Anne will facilitate an experiential exploration of issues
raised in the lecture.
