I am a Gestalt Therapist in Advanced Clinical Training with the Edinburgh Gestalt Institute, working towards accreditation with UKCP.
I’m also a qualified mental health trainer/educator and workshop facilitator. Since 2007 I have designed and delivered workshops for a range of charities including Mind, Rethink, NIACE and the NHS.
As a therapist, I am passionately interested in how health and wellbeing is influenced by our environment and the social relationships in our lives. Whatever brings you to therapy, I aim to be sensitive to this wider context: the physical, cultural and social landscape which forms the backdrop of our journey together.
In addition to seeing private clients, I am based at Saffron Sheffield as a volunteer therapist, supporting women who have experienced trauma and abuse. I previously completed a clinical placement at the Lincoln Trauma Centre. As such, I have expertise in supporting people who live with the lasting effects of traumatic events, including PTSD and complex trauma – as well as working with a wide range of other issues.
Prior to training as a therapist, I worked in digital marketing as a web-developer and am concerned about how technology impacts on human health, happiness and social connection. I increasingly work with people who are struggling with the compulsive use of digital technology – and this is a growing clinical specialism of mine.
I have a longstanding interest in the issue of iatrogenic harm in mental healthcare and the over-medicalisation of human distress. I am active in campaigning for a more compassionate, holistic and socially engaged approach to mental health treatment in the UK.
