I have been working as a Gestalt Psychotherapist for 13 years . I work part time in private practice as a Gestalt therapist and supervisor and in the NHS as an Occupational therapist. I have 20 years experience of working in mental health with adults and 5 years experience working as a Creative therapist with children.
I enjoy working with individuals, couples and groups. I have also done some training in other therapy approaches including Cognitive therapy, Mindfulness, Psychoanalysis and Person-centred art therapy. I value the richness of working with people from different cultures and backgrounds.
My own spiritual practice which draws from Quaker and Buddhist traditions is a great source of nourishment and inspiration to me.
I am attracted to Gestalt because it is a creative approach and seeks to gain awareness by connecting with body sensation, feelings and thoughts. I believe that we all have a natural tendency towards health and wellbeing but obstacles in life can cause us to get stuck or become unwell. We change by being more fully ourselves. Therapy helps us fulfil our potential to be the truest version of ourselves and to accept and cherish all aspects of ourselves. Gestalt is a therapy based on the healing power of the relationship between the therapist and client. Both are equal partners in finding creative solutions.
