I am a UKCP registered Psychotherapist (1998) and a BACP Senior Counselling Practitioner. I have been a practicing therapist since 1989. I have a long established practice in Brixton, South London.
I initially trained in Gestalt Psychotherapy at the Pellin Institute and then Metanoia, and received an MSc in Gestalt Psychotherapy from Middlesex University. My theoretical orientation now combines gestalt with the systemic approach, and draws upon psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioural and other humanistic approaches. I studied the systemic approach of Family Constellations (an approach that explores our interconnections with our wider systems, family, culture, community etc) with Hellinger Institute of Britain and the ‘nowhere foundation’.
I have provided therapy in a wide-range of settings, including in Primary Practice, drug and alcohol agencies, the Civil Service, EAPs and in the HIV field. I have previously taught counselling and psychotherapy at the Whittington Hospital, the Centre for Personal and Professional Development, and Bromley College. I have provided individual and group clinical supervision to counsellors in a range of social care and therapy training institutions, including with the Awareness Centre, Foundation 66, Turning Point, Cranstoun, Barnados, Tara Community Project and the Everyman Centre.
I also work as a Clinical Supervisor, a Trainer, and as a Consultant and Coach.
My first career was as a teacher in Sudan and then in the Caribbean. I subsequently worked for several years in social care, working with the homeless and substance misusers. I worked for NACRO, Stonham and Turning Point amongst others.
I facilitate Family Constellation workshops and I am a faculty teaching member and a Director with the Centre for Systemic Constellations, and an associate in Moving Constellations. I am also a student of the Diamond Approach with the Ridhwan School
I offer both training and supervision in Gestalt Psychotherapy and Systemic Constellations. I also provide training in issues related to working with people who misuse drugs and alcohol.
