I qualified in 1990 as a Gestalt psychotherapist and obtained my Masters later, but I see myself as an integrative therapist with a Gestalt orientation. I also trained with the Institute of Group Analysis as well as Transactional Analysis at Metanioa. My ‘day job’ is as an organisation consultant, so I am well suited to clients who are working in organisations and are looking for someone who understands their world.
I am a ‘relational therapist, which means, very simply that I think personality is created in relationship; we may have a genetic potential but our sense of identity, of self is a consequence of how we are ‘patterned’ through our history of relating. Hence I think, as we are formed in relationship we change in relationship, so I pay a lot of attention to the dynamic which emerges between my clients and me.
I bring myself fully into the engagement, and I am also rather pragmatic, so I am keen to help clients solve their problems in the here and now reality of their lives.
